SYP Co., Ltd. won the "Grand Prize" at the "2022 Best Practices Sharing Meeting for Technology Commercialization of Special R&D Zones" held on November 18.

The grand prize winner, SYP's "Establishment and Subsequent Growth Support for Planned High-Capacity Research Institute Companies," was highly praised by the judges for forming an industry, research and financial consortium to commercialize anti-cancer drugs for rare cancers.

○ The R&D Special Zone Promotion Foundation (Chairman Kang Byung-sam, hereinafter referred to as the Special Zone Foundation) held the 2022 R&D Special Zone Technology Commercialization Best Practices Sharing Meeting to share key achievements of technology commercialization institutions and gather opinions to revitalize the technology commercialization ecosystem.

○ The Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) held this day to share the performance of commercialization institutions* that promoted technology commercialization with the Special Zone Foundation, to share the expertise of commercialization institutions in the future, and to lay the foundation for the spread of performance.

* Specialized institutions for commercialization: institutions that support technology discovery and development for small and medium-sized enterprises, consulting technology commercialization, and attracting funds necessary for commercialization, etc

○ First of all, the first part was announced with 10 best practices, including the case of timely initial investment and linking follow-up investment to companies with excellent economic performance derived from the transfer of excellent technologies in the special zone. 

○ In the second part, the Special Zone Foundation announced strategies to revitalize the technology commercialization ecosystem, including support measures to strengthen the expertise of commercialization institutions and the establishment of educational support programs for member companies,

○ Out of the 10 companies announced in the first part, three outstanding companies were selected and an award ceremony was held.

○ The Special Zone Foundation appointed experts in each field (professors, commercialization-related specialized institutions, etc.) as judges and selected award-winning works (Grand Prize, Excellence Award, Encouragement Award).

○ The grand prize winner, SYP's "Establishment and Subsequent Growth Support for Planned High-Capacity Research Institute Companies," was highly praised by the judges for forming an industry, research and financial consortium to commercialize targeted anticancer drugs for rare cancers.

○ In addition, Kingsley Ventures Co., Ltd.'s "Large-Small Win-Win Cooperation and Best Practices for Investment Follow-up Performance" and Y&Archer Co., Ltd.'s "Fit" acceleration to investors were selected for the encouragement award. 

□ Chairman Kang Byung-sam emphasized that "commercialization institutions play a big role in the field that connects technology and companies."

○  "We are preparing various plans to revitalize technology commercialization institutions in 2023, so we ask commercialization institutions to provide more results so that researchers and entrepreneurs in the special zone can feel it," he said.
